Scarred: Preparing for the Hurt in Life

SCARRED – the next message series @ Elevate rally services

All students have some sort of pain and/or emotional scar they they need to learn to deal with. Most have several. Some have lots. Pain happens… it’s unavoidable.

The challenge for us is how to help students deal with the pain in realistic ways that are healthy and spiritually grounded. To help them make choices to overcome the past, but that also pave the way to future growth in their walk with Jesus. Listen to this short message from Pastor Shawn and keep us in your prayers over the next three weeks…

Family Day in Spearfish Canyon

family fun day in spearfish

The day started out with a phone call from our friend, Angel Dean.  He had a surprise for us; click here to see the surprise.  Pretty cool, huh?

Then we went with Grandma and Grandpa Shoup out to have some fun lolly-gagging around in Spearfish Canyon.  Here’s the pics (click here) and here’s some video highlights.  Fun day…

Free Worship with Leeland

This video really moved me… maybe it’s because Leeland, the band’s lead singer, is still yet a teenager. He’s such a gifted and anointed young man.

I went to bed listening to this last night with tears in my eyes and I woke up this morning craving more…

Crowder Plays "Jesus is My Friend"

Okay, this proves it.  Crowder and his boys are geniuses.  From their blog yesterday…

so, i’m certain you’ve seen the video of the band sonseed by now, but if you haven’t, you need to go to youtube and type in ‘jesus is my friend’ — (or view it here on our blog) — and have your life changed.

last sunday, ben, my friend that i reference here on occasion, showed the video during the announcements at our church, ubc. the set up was too tempting, so, instead of listening to the sermon (yes, i know), we (the band) gathered in ben’s office around his computer learning this life changing song. we thought it a fitting benediction. church music is cool. here is the resulting youtube:

You Shot This Video

I love the creativity of the David Crowder Band.  Their writing wit, fondness for the color “lime green”, and David’s hair are all bonus!  Anyhow, if you haven’t seen it yet, I thought this video was pretty genius.  The following is the David Crowder Band playing “Neverending” live as filmed by fans this past year.  All the footage is from YouTube.  Cool idea… love this!

Their new web site is live, too.  Check it out at davidcrowderband.com.
